He and his colleagues at the Applied Research Laboratory at UC Berkeley created a way to break up a stainless steel alloy by adding more chemical molecules to it.
The team showed that adding the compounds helped break up the alloy, and that the process worked well for most types of stainless.
The researchers hope to have a working stainless steel for people in the next five to 10 years.
